FAQs about Cognitive Therapy and Schema Therapy
How long are therapy sessions?
Sessions are usually 50 minutes. This gives us time to explore what’s going on for you without feeling rushed, while also keeping the focus clear.
I also offer 25-minute sessions (£x45). These shorter appointments can be useful as focused check-ins, with more structured work given between sessions.

Therapy FAQs – CBT, Schema Therapy & EMDR
CBT & EMDR (focused, goal-oriented therapy) are offered at
• £110 for 50 minute session.
• Integrative therapy for complex or long-standing difficulties is offered at
• £120 for 50-minute session.
The most appropriate approach will be discussed together, based on your needs.
Some people benefit from a short-term focus of around 10–20 sessions, while others prefer longer-term therapy. We’ll decide together what feels right for you, depending on your goals and circumstances.
Not always. Weekly sessions are common, especially at the beginning, but some clients prefer a fortnightly rhythm once we’ve built a foundation. This gives you space between sessions to reflect and practice new skills.
Yes, I offer shorter 25-30 minute check-in sessions. These can be great for maintaining consistency in therapy or focusing on a specific issue without committing to a full session.
I use an integrative approach, incorporating CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Schema Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). This means therapy is tailored to your individual needs, whether you seek practical strategies, deeper emotional healing, or trauma recovery support. If you prefer a specific model like CBT or EMDR, we can focus on that. Some people appreciate the structure of one approach, while others prefer the flexibility of combining methods.
Most of my therapy sessions are conducted online, allowing you to access therapy from anywhere in the UK. I am also exploring in-person options in Glasgow for those who prefer face-to-face sessions.
Yes. Research shows that online CBT is just as effective as in-person therapy for difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and stress. Many people across Scotland and the wider UK choose online therapy because it’s convenient, flexible, and easier to fit into daily life —which makes it more effective in the long run
I offer CBT, EMDR, and integrative trauma-focused therapy, including schema-focused work. The approach recommended will depend on the nature and complexity of the difficulties you’re experiencing. CBT and EMDR are typically used for focused, goal-oriented therapy, while integrative work is more appropriate for longer-standing or complex difficulties. This is always discussed openly so you understand the rationale and can decide how you’d like to proceed.
Schema Therapy helps people understand and change long-standing patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that often start in childhood. It can be especially useful if you struggle with low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, or feeling “stuck” in the same cycles. By combining techniques from CBT, attachment theory, and experiential methods, Schema Therapy not only reduces symptoms like anxiety or depression but also supports deeper emotional healing. Many clients in Scotland and across the UK find it valuable for building self-compassion and breaking free from unhelpful patterns that affect daily life and relationships.
CBT and EMDR are structured, evidence-based therapies focused on specific difficulties such as anxiety or trauma. Sessions are more guided and goal-oriented, supporting practical change and increased self-management over time.
Integrative therapy often involves working with long-standing patterns, trauma, and relational difficulties. This type of work typically requires more in-depth formulation, flexibility, and ongoing clinical reflection between sessions. The fee reflects the nature and scope of the therapeutic work rather than the individual.
