Longer-term psychological therapy

Some difficulties don’t fit neatly into a short course of therapy. You may have been struggling for a long time, experienced several overlapping difficulties, or found that previous therapy helped with some things but didn’t quite reach what was underneath.

Longer-term psychological therapy gives more space to understand the whole picture — including current difficulties, relationships, earlier experiences, attachment, emotional needs and the patterns that have developed over time.

This may be helpful if you:

  • Have longstanding or complex emotional difficulties

  • Experience recurring difficulties in relationships

  • Struggle with self-esteem, identity or self-criticism

  • Find it difficult to understand or express what you feel

  • Have experienced childhood adversity, loss or trauma

  • Have tried shorter-term therapy but feel there is more to understand

  • Want a deeper piece of psychological work rather than focusing on one symptom

How we work

Therapy may be integrative, drawing on different psychological approaches according to what you need rather than requiring you to fit one particular model. Longer-term work is available with our Consultant Clinical Psychologist and other appropriately experienced clinicians within the team.

Clinic sessions are available in person in Glasgow or online across the UK.

Why BABCP accreditation matters

All of our CBT therapists are BABCP accredited. You can check your therapist’s current accreditation on the official BABCP CBT Register.

Our CBT therapists are BABCP accredited, meaning they have completed recognised specialist CBT training, supervised clinical practice and competency assessment, and maintain their accreditation through ongoing clinical work, supervision and professional development.

They work with evidence-based psychological models and established treatment approaches, while adapting therapy to the individual. CBT here is structured and informed by research, but it is not a rigid one-size-fits-all programme.

Fees

CBT sessions are £120 with Gem Thomson and £110 with associate CBT therapists, for 50 minutes.
